Bloggers and online journalists around the world rejoice! You can now embed Instagram videos and photos on your site.
No ad to show here.
The Facebook-owned video and photo sharing network officially announced the new feature, explaining that anyone wanting to embed a photo or video will be able to do so by clicking on the share button on the right side of your photo (just under the comments button).
Once you’ve clicked it, you’ll see a block of text, just like you would when embedding a tweet. Copy the block of text it gives you and paste it into your blog, website or article. When you hit publish, the photo or video will appear.
Instagram dedicates a large portion of the article to explaining that, no matter where your photos or videos end up appearing, they still belong to you:
As always, you own your photos and videos, and we want to make sure that’s understood no matter where your content appears. Whether you want to embed your video on your blog or a friend wants to feature your photo on a website, everyone will clearly see that your content belongs to you.
When someone embeds your photo, your Instagram username appears with it and, the filter-based social network says, “clicking on the Instagram logo will take people to your page on Instagram.com where they can discover more of your photos and videos”.
If however you really don’t like the idea of people embedding your photos and videos on their site, then you can just mark them as private. The embed code is only available to those whose photos and videos are public.
In order to give you a better idea of how the new feature works, we’ve included a video and a couple of photos from our Burn Reporter account below:
