The world is in mourning following the death of Nelson Mandela. The former South African president and renowned statesman passed away in his Johannesburg late on Thursday night, following a long battle with illness.

It is a mark of the esteem in which the freedom fighter turned statesman was held that sites from across the world paused to mark his passing in some way. Across the globe, his death has dominated news headlines, with many sites building specialist pages in order to do coverage of his death full justice. A number of corporate and retail sites meanwhile have also paid tribute to the man affectionately referred to by his clan name: Madiba.
