Gmail now lets you email people on Google+

Gmail to Google+

Many of us who network via the web find one another and communicate on a forum or social media platform and create connections but don’t have their email address to interact directly with. Google is about to solve that by allowing you to email your Google+ circles.

Google announced the new Google+ integration on its Gmail blog. In addition to a recent feature that updates your Gmail contacts automatically via Google+, Gmail will now suggest your Google+ circle connections as recipients when you are composing a new email.

From now on you will be able to see others Google+ members as you type in to the “To:” section.

If you have utilised Gmail’s new inbox categories system then when someone in your circles emails you, the email will appear in the Primary category (if enabled). However if you don’t have them in your circles, it will be filtered into the Social category along wi and they’ll only be able start another conversation with you if you respond or add them to your circles.

This email was sent to all Gmail users who also use Google+:

The service will go live over the next few days, a new setting will appear (if not already) in your Gmail under the title: “Email via Google+.” Relax, the default setting means that only those in your circles may email you. If you don’t want even those you have circled in Google+ to be able to send you an email, you can select that as an option too.

By default it is set at only those in your circles:

However if you like you can set it to “Anyone on Google+” or “No one”:

Please note, your actual email address won’t be revealed unless you choose to respond to the email.
