Yesterday’s FIFA World Cup match between Uruguay and Italy will be remembered more for an incident involving teeth and less for footballing tactics. During the second half, everyone’s favourite footballing villian Luis Suarez, took a large, unsubtle bite of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini’s shoulder. No caution or disciplinary action was issued, leading to internet-based uproar across the world, no less in Italy. The incident is pictured below thanks to Pete Blackburn’s TwitPic page.

However, this isn’t the first time Suarez munched on an opponent. Last year while playing for Liverpool, he was banned for ten matches after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Of course, an incident so utterly strange didn’t go unnoticed on social media, and subsequently Suarez is now the star of his own, toothy meme. Here are some of the best.
