The big blockbusters released so far in 2014 haven’t exactly struck gold at the box office. You could, like the studios, blame piracy (although some are starting to question that logic with actual hard data) or it could be because Hollywood is determined to suck every cent it can out of your childhood nostalgia.

At least one person thinks it’s the latter and he’s something of a geek icon. Wil Wheaton has mercilessly ripped into the phenomenon of Hollywood recycling childhood nostalgia in his latest a video, a trailer for the mock film Literally Everything Else From Your Childhood: The Movie.
The trailer, which basically reels off every toy, gizmo and concept (blowing into a Nintendo cartridge anyone?) that was popular in the 80s and 90s, might seem funny now but the way things are going it could turn out to be an eerily accurate depiction of our near future.
