Recent footage shot using a drone and a GoPro, shows us a 360 bird’s eye view of Apple’s new campus, aptly referred to as Campus 2 or Spaceship. The construction site, located in Cupertino, looks more like a massive launch pad, resembling a disc of some sort.

There has been a lot of speculation about the spaceship-like building, with Bloomberg sources claiming the tech giant’s future headquarters could cost as much as US$5-billion. Rightly so, the new headquarters will have a couple of tricks up its sleeve.
There won’t be “a straight piece of glass on the whole building,” sources told Bloomberg. With a net-zero energy agenda in the works, Apple is installing 700 000 square feet (more than 65 000 square meters) of solar panels, generating 8 megawatts of power. As The Verge points out, although this would be able power over 4 000 homes, Apple will need more. The company is also looking into wind-generating power.

The YouTube uploader, jmcminn, reassures us that “the quad copter remained under 400 feet (about 122 meters) as per FAA Advisory Circular 91-57 for remote controlled airplanes and helicopters and did not go within any airport no-fly zones.”
According to the City of Cupertino, the construction of Apple’s Campus 2 is expected to be completed at the end of 2016. Until then, here’s a mock-up:
