Apple says iPhone 6 smashed 30 day sales record, gives no actual numbers

iPhone 6 sales

Everyone barring the most stringent pessimists knew that the iPhone 6 was going to sell well, but just how well it’s sold in its first 30 days on the market appears to have surprised even Apple.

The Cupertino-based tech giant wouldn’t provide exact sales figures, but CEO Tim Cook did take some time at during its iPad launch today to say that it was the biggest iPhone launch in history, “by a lot, a whole lot.”

Given that the phone is yet to launch in China and a few other key markets, it seems likely that records will continue to tumble in the coming weeks.

Time to pay up

The launch of Apple Pay also seems to be going pretty well, with Cook revealing that Apple has signed up 500 more banks to the service since it was launched in September.

“We think that it is going to be profound,” he told the audience at the iPad event.

The service will officially go live on Monday and will likely be pushed out to any iPhones capable of supporting it.

Whether Apple is capable of pushing out that update without experiencing the kind of glitches that mar such things, and which have become increasingly frequent of late, is another matter entirely.
