Donations will go towards Network for Good — a secure and accredited online fundraising initiative. You can either use Google Wallet or your credit card to transfer money. Google will take care of the processing fees.
Following Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s lead, Google and co-founder Larry Page’s family foundation is also giving a total of US$25-million in order to fight the disease.
Some of the non-profits supported include International Rescue Committee, Doctors Without Borders, NetHope and Unicef.
“These organisations are doing remarkable work in very difficult circumstances to help contain this outbreak, and we hope our contribution will help them have an even greater impact,” Page wrote in the announcement.
This initiative follows Facebook’s recent implementation of Donation Buttons on the platform’s News Feed, encouraging its 800 million daily active users to help fight Ebola. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen also pledged US$100-million in October.
