Seriously.

What at first seems like a play on the SeaWorld theme park in the US, Jurassic World‘s debut trailer takes it so much further than manatees, dolphins and killer whales.

Apart from all the dinosaurs, they talk of a new “very intelligent” genetic hybrid “cooked-up in the lab”. And, seeing that this is the fourth title for the Jurassic Park movie franchise, they haven’t learned their lesson and it won’t bode too well for the tourists and scientists on the island. It also means that the Tyrannosaurus Rex isn’t at the top of the food chain any more.

The movie will star Chris Prat from Guardians of the Galaxy and Parks and Recreation who, as we imagine, will welcome kicking genetic hybrid dinosaur butt. Actress Bryce Dallas Howard from The Village and Spider Man 3 will play the mastermind behind the lab-made dinosaur concoction.

It does stick with a bit of the original recipe though.

As with many of its predecessors (which made its first debut back in 1993 by Steven Spielberg), Jurassic World‘s trailer features a young pair of siblings running around chased by all kinds beasts. There’s intense atmospheric rain which probably means the inevitable evacuation is out of the question. Oh, and there’s a fossilised mosquito.

Whether paleontologist bashing or blockbuster praising, we’ll have to hold on to all our professional movie opinions until 12 June 2015. Either way the trailer has already munched up almost 10 million views on YouTube in just a few hours of its release.
