It’s almost become cliche to say that we live in a mobile world. The thing about cliches though is that they often have more than a grain of truth about them. This is especially true when it comes to mobile. Think about it. There are around 2-billion smartphone subscribers on the planet, with sub-Saharan Africa alone set to have more than half a billion of its own smartphone subscribers by 2020.

The money is following people’s user habits too, with mobile search adspend set to overtake desktop by as soon as next year. But those are generalities. Can we draw any conclusions about the different ways people around the globe use smartphones.
According to MEF, the global community for mobile content and commerce, it is.
It suggests for instance that Brazilians are big spenders when it comes to mobile games and apps while South Africans have something of a penchant for brain-training apps.
The data is taken from MEF’s annual Global Consumer Survey , which looks at the consumer behaviour patterns of almost 15 000 mobile media users in 15 countries across five continents, including mHealth, mobile education, banking, the apps economy and entertainment.
