If there was any aspect of the recently released Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer that caused real controversy, it was the cross-guard lightsaber. It’s inspired plenty of memes as well as some pretty deep analysis. “As Makers”, the group says, “we couldn’t help but try to find out by ourselves if this “crossguard” design was a good configuration or not… So we decided to build one, with our army of 3D printers”.
It actually went a little further than that though, making a fully customisable light-saber which it claims makes hundreds of configurations possible, ranging from Yoda’s lightsaber to Darth Maul’s.
