Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg crowdsourced his New Year’s resolution on the social network and the post solicited plenty of suggestions. Someone suggested that he work a manual labour job at Starbucks and another person asked him to come to lunch at their house in Palestine. The winning suggestion however prompted Zuckerberg to start a book club.

Out of all the suggestions, Zuckerberg chose to read a book because he said it was one of the most popular suggestions. He further stated that “My challenge for 2015 is to read a new book every other week — with an emphasis on learning about different cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies.”

The book Zuckerberg chose to read for the group is titled The End of Power — which discusses how power is distributed between leaders and individuals — has now sold out on Amazon. No doubt the book is not an unpopular read having been selected as Financial Times Best Book of the Year but Zuckerberg’s endorsement has shot it to even greater heights. Right now only the hardcover, from various Amazon sellers, and Kindle versions are available.

After making the announcement that he would be taking up reading books this year, Zuckerberg started a group page “A Year of Books”. Currently the group has over 120 000 likes after two days. With 23 million followers on his Facebook page, Zuckerberg’s group is poised for more likes in the following days.
