There are weird videos on the internet. So this live video of a McDonald’s hamburger (and accompanying fries of course) chilling under its plastic container after five years shouldn’t come as too big a surprise.

Like any unique video out there, there’s a unique story of how it came to be. In December 2009 the fast food franchise closed up shop in Iceland. Local patriot Hjörtur Smárason bought a burger from McDonald’s to keep… for two freakin’ years.

After opening the container up in his garage, to find the meal hasn’t changed one bit, Smárason donated it to the national museum of Iceland. Then, after sitting in the museum for another year, it was shipped off to the Bus Hostel Reykjavik.
Five years later, and the meal looks exactly the same since day one.
As a disclaimer aptly points out on the webpage, “You might have to be patient though to see any changes. Chances are that this is the most boring, uneventful web cam on the planet.”
The video will likely not be making its way into the Cannes Film Festival lineup, but still, it’s a nice reference to people not believing that McDonald’s food is plastic.
Hungry, anyone?
