Kenyan innovation and hacker space iHub and Goethe Institut, have formed a partnership to fund creatives who use technology in their works.

The programme, which is set to kick-start in the coming months, will see two applicants awarded funds to cover the productions of the artwork that they’re expected to create. The artists will also be required to exhibit the artwork in a given timeframe.
The organisers say that all the work must fall under the category of digital art as defined by Goethe Institut and iHub.

To participate, one must write a proposal for an artwork that falls within the theme of ‘art and technology’. The proposal should also wrestle with the topic “Kenya’s Future” and can be in the following disciplines: animation, music visualisation, net poetry, interactive installations, gaming, and others.
The proposal, iHub and Goethe Institut have said, should describe and/or visually conceptualise (storyboards, diagrams or other visual modelling) the artist’s project idea. The proposal should also include what tools, materials, processes, display and budget costs might be involved.
The usage of technology in the artwork can be in the conceptual and creative phase or in the presentation processes.
Funding will be based on the strength of the proposal as well as the integrity of the budget. Interested participants can attend a gathering on 21 March 2015 at iHub.
