This Tidal promo video will make you hate the world’s most successful musicians

Tidal video still

Yesterday Jay Z relaunched Tidal, the Swedish music streaming service he bought a few months back for US$56-million.

At the same time, he launched a video showing a gathering of the ultra-famous musicians he’s brought on-board in a bid to ensure that the service doesn’t flop right away. We have to warn you though, they don’t exactly come off as likable.

From the moment that Jay Z informs the world that “we’re going to change the course of history,” to the closing title screen, you’re assaulted with nausea-inducing levels of cringe-worthiness. Whatever the artistic merits of the musicians signed up to Tidal may be, this video makes it difficult to see them as anything other than spoiled, money-grabbing elites completely out of touch with their fan bases.

Then again, you might have guessed then upon learning that they expect people to pay US$20 a month for an untested service.
