This infographic shows you the real difference between UX and UI designers

To people outside the digital space, a designer is a designer. Dig a little deeper and you quickly realise that there are many different spheres within the field. Even digital veterans though sometimes battle with the difference between User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) designers.

And it goes beyond just saying that one deals with user interfaces, while the other deals with how a product looks and feels to a user.

For instance, did you know that user experience designers are more concerned with human psychology and people’s understanding of labels and patterns than the immediate visual appeal of a site?

And were you aware that UI designers need to have a working knowledge of front-end software tools and in the US earn, on average, earn more than US$10 000 a year less than their UX counterparts?

One thing’s fairly certain though: as the machines we use every day get smarter, both professions will become increasingly important and move further and further away from the world of desktop-based websites.
