After yesterday’s Alphabet announcement, an umbrella group to all Google-owned companies, it began to emerge that the internet giant had hidden something in the press release.

The show follows the exploits of Pied Piper, a startup specialising in a unique compression algorithm. The show chronicles the fictional company and founder, Richard Hendricks, as they journey from a small incubator, a fight over the IP to the Pied Piper name, their attendance at a TechCrunch event, and becoming one of the most sought over properties in the Valley.
That’s just a sampling of what happens.
The TV show is a product of Mike Judge, who is know for this social commentary movies, Office Space and Idiocracy, as well as MTV’s smash-hit, Beavis and Butt-head.

Hidden in the G is for Google announcement on the Official Google Blog is a small homage to the TV show. It seems someone at Google is a big fan, and rightly so. As pointed out by one of our readers, if you click on the full stop after the word drone you’ll be treated to a small surprise. The secret is related to season two of the TV series. It’s recommended you have watched the entire season to get the full effect.
It’s always delightful when companies hide easter eggs that show off their fandom. The easter egg removes the realisation — just for a moment — that Google is still a pretty scary conglomerate.
