Google is opening a YouTube Space studio in Mumbai

Google has announced that its YouTube Space is coming to Mumbai, India soon, continuing its forceful entry in the country. Ask a video creator anywhere in the world and the common challenges are access to quality camera, audio, editing equipment and professional studios.

YouTube creators and aspiring creators in India will now have a space to create their videos and will not have to be plagued by the everyday struggles of video creators.

“India is seeing an emergence of a new generation of YouTube creators who are capturing the colour, music, humour, and drama of India more creatively than ever before. In fact, Indian creators are now amongst the top contributors in Asia when it comes to driving time spent on YouTube watching videos,” David Macdonald, Head of YouTube Spaces in Asia Pacific, said in a blog post.

The YouTube space will be situated at the Whistling Woods International film school in Mumbai. Other places with YouTube Spaces include in Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, New York City, Sao Paulo, and Berlin.

YouTube Space was launched in 2012 and since then creators have visited YouTube Spaces over 100 000 times, held over 800 events and workshops and over 11 000 videos have been created.

Google has outlined its plans for YouTube Space Mumbai, stating that it will be a place for creators to collaborate, innovate and experiment with new content for audiences around the world. Above this, it will also be a space to learn, connect and create, with creators getting to learn the training programs and workshops to master classes.

The collaboration will aid India’s YouTube creators, both popular and aspiring in creating content for YouTube. These creators will have free access to Whistling Woods’ studios, high-end audio, visual and editing equipment, in addition to training programs, workshops and community events.

The space is not up and running yet but Google says it is already in advanced stages of setting up the place and creators will be able to make use of it soon.

Google is also invested in not only providing the Space but optimising for the creators needs. Creators in India can use the hashtag #ifihadspace on social media to let Google know and can also sign up to receive updates about the Space.
