Over the past couple of years, we’ve written fairly extensively on the City Of Tshwane’s efforts at rolling out free Wi-Fi in conjunction with Project Isizwe. It’s been a pretty successful initiative and now the city is using it to get its citizens to do good.
According to a press release sent to Memeburn, Tshwane has partnered with Project Isizwe, Happimo and social impact startup forgood to launch Tshwane forgood.

The online platform is designed to connect citizens who want to volunteer time or donate goods with registered and vetted non-profit organisations.

“All users connected to Tshwane’s free Wi-Fi can browse and use the forgood platform without their daily browser limit being affected – in other words, they have zero rated access to do good on the forgood platform,” the company confirms in the press release.
For its part, the city says that by encouraging its citizens to support those in need, it hopes to create a more tolerant and inclusive society.
“Tshwane ForGood is another example of how the City of Tshwane is using technology to improve the lives of residents,” says Kgosientso Ramokgopa, Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane.
