3. Hilton College pupils spark social ire with staged rape pic
A group of pupils from exclusive South African private school have landed themselves in hot water after posting an image on Instagram, which shows a staged rape scene.

2. Instagrammer Skye Grove dismissed from Cape Town Partnership job
Skye Grove, the prominent South African Instagrammer at the centre of an online plagiarism furore, has been dismissed from her position at Cape Town Partnership following an independent investigation.
In a newsletter sent out to the Cape Town Partnership community, CEO Bulelwa Makalima-Ngewana confirmed that Grove had been dismissed following her suspension in mid-September. Read more…
1. What the Count 19 app tells us about the paradox of innovation and anonymity
A new app, which includes a matric learner as one of its developers, has a South African high school up in arms. Called Count 19, the app allows people to broadcast anonymous messages to anyone near them who also has it installed and started gaining traction in the last week or so.
There’s nothing terribly unusual in that: it’s sort like the now defunct Secret, but based on location rather than your contact list. Read more…
