Captain America Civil War trailer shows off Black Panther

Marvel and Disney have been doing an excellent job of interweaving story threads and hints throughout their TV shows and movies. The next big Marvel movie starts a superhero civil war while exploring some of these threads.

In The Avengers 2: Age of Ultron we saw a divide beginning to form between Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Steve Rogers (Captain America). The latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America 3: Civil War, looks to explore that divide.

What looks to take place shortly after Age of Ultron, the first trailer for Marvel’s new epic shows Captain America and The Falcon speaking to a battered and bruised James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes AKA the Winter Soldier.

A government figure is then shown speaking to several members of the new Avengers team – formed at the end of Age of Ultron – and says: “While a great many people see you as a hero, there are some who prefer the word vigilante. You’ve operated with unlimited power and no supervision. That is something the world can no longer tolerate.” He is more than likely talking about the Superhero Registration Act, which is the basis for the Civil War comic book cross-over series.

From then on there’s a lot of action, fighting, heroic stances, and general cinematography you’d expect from a Marvel Comics movie. We are given our first shot of Black Panther, king of the fictional African nation of Wakanda.

While this movie won’t be as robust as the Civil War comics — mostly due to licencing reasons and budget — it’s sure to create lasting ramifications throughout all of Marvel’s movies and TV shows.
