The Google Calendar app, both for Android and iOS, is getting a new Reminders feature. According to Google, this feature will allow users to create reminders in Google Calendar, enabling the user to track all scheduled events and appointments.
Google says that Reminders will stick around on users’ calendars until they have been completed. Instead of going away when the set date passes, like normal events, Reminders will sit on top of the calendar, making it easy to see them, ensuring that users do not miss an important appointment. Once a task is completed, a user can swipe the Reminder away.

Besides sticking around until a task is complete, Reminders, unlike events, automatically adds additional information such as phone numbers and addresses. Users will not have to do anything more than look at the reminder and their doctor’s or friend’s number and addresses to the doctor’s practise or to that house warming will be right in front of them to see.
“Just like Inbox by Gmail, Calendar uses information from your contacts, as well as Google’s knowledge graph to provide this extra bit of help,” Google said in a blog post.
Another functionality of Reminders is that it works across Google. This means that users can create reminders from Inbox, Google Keep and Google Now and all of these will be shown at the top on the Google Calendar app.
Google is rolling out Reminders this week on the app with the web version to follow later.
