Big news in the social media world rankings: Taylor Swift has his week been surpassed by Selena Gomez as Instagram’s most followed person.
On Monday, Selena Gomez’s Instagram follower numbers surpassed Swift’s and currently stands at around 69.4-million, or 200 000 more than Taylor Swift, and almost 8-million more than “internet breaking” Kim Kardashian (let’s not even mention Beyonce or Bieber here).

For the record, Instagram has well over 400-million users globally thanks in part to the popularity of imaging sharing services, the improvements made to smartphone camera technology and the proliferation of Tay-Tay’s good feels, of course. But the latter’s reign has come to an end after quite a while at the top of the social network.
Incredibly, 23-year-old Gomez’s images aren’t short of likes either, with over 3-million garnered for just one of her snaps taken two weeks ago (below).

While Instagram enjoys its own reign as one of the most popular social media networks (overthrowing Twitter back in September 2015), other services like Snapchat are gaining on the Facebook-owned company extremely quickly.
In May 2015, the company noted that it topped 100-million daily users, with a further 100-million poking their heads through the door every month.
For now, Instagram and Gomez remain at the top of the tree. But for how long?
