Do you enjoy spreadsheets, equations, and using Excel for all sorts of needs? You may want to enter the Microsoft Office Excel Champs SA competition to test out all of those =SUM() skills.
Microsoft has partnered with LGIT Smart Solutions to create a series of spreadsheets that will require some serious skills to complete. The overall winner of the competition will net themselves a Dell Latitude E7470 laptop, Lumia 1320 smartphone, the grand title of “Excel Grand Master,” and other prizes.

According to a press release sent to Memeburn, that “due to a flood of requests from people wanting to participate, Microsoft has decided to allow anyone to enter the second leg of the competition.” This means you won’t have had to compete in the first round the enter the second one.
“The Office Excel champion might be anyone from a CFO through to a first-year varsity student. He or she will definitely possess a special sense of tables and figures, and will be particularly adept at helping businesses turn a seemingly meaningless expanse of data into an invaluable overview of and insights into the organisation through the power of Excel,” says product marketing manager at Microsoft South Africa, Mark Dorfling.

In order to compete, you’ll need to download the competition spreadsheet from Microsoft South Africa’s Facebook page. Once you’ve completed and solved the sheet, email it to excelsa@microsoft.com in order to enter the competition. This second leg of the competition starts today and closes on 18 April.
The top ten entrants will be announced on 25 April, who will then be given the next spreadsheet for completion by 12:00pm on 6 May. From there the final three finalists will be announced on 12 May and will face off against each other on 27 May at Microsoft’s South African offices in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
