Periscope introduces new features, broadcast search and drone integration

Periscope today upped its rivalry with Facebook Live Video by introducing a host of new features. The new features follow last week’s release of a beta version that include a feature that allows users to save broadcasts for longer than 24 hours. The new features include broadcast search and an integration with DJI drones.

Users can now search for broadcasts by title or topic by using the Global list search button. Users will then be able to see a list of recommended topics with topics like travel, music, food, and others. Searching for titles also work in the same way, users need to tap the Broadcast button in the topic’s search results and add a relevant hashtag to search for a title. This is an important feature for users as now finding a topic and title of a broadcast will be much easier. The broadcast search feature, according to the company, will roll out to all users in the coming weeks.

Drone users need to connect their iPhone to the drone’s remote and Periscope will automatically pull in the drone’s video feed. If users search GoPro or Drones they will be able to find broadcasts from GoPros and drones.

The other topics that the Twitter owned platform is testing is “First Scope,” a feature that allows users to welcome new broadcasters.

Furthermore, Periscope hopes to automatically save broadcasts on Periscope and Twitter with comments and hearts.

“Should you change your mind, you can still delete your broadcasts at any time in the post-broadcast screen or in your profile. And, for those of you who still want your broadcasts to be removed after 24 hours, you can easily configure that in your account settings,” the company said.
