Skype has released an update that brings a Material Design refresh to its Android tablet app. Android phones have been enjoying their Material Design updates since 2015.
Skype users on tablets can now enjoy Android’s new design language with all its vivid colours and bold shapes.

The new UI for tablets has a floating button that Skype is claiming makes it easier to send messages and start voice and video calls.
The design, according to the company, is optimised for multitasking, with its multi-pane view in landscape orientation. This allows users to send messages, files and check latest conversations whilst on a video or voice call.
Tablets also see an improved search capability, making it easier and quicker to search contacts, chats, groups and Skype bots from the main screen.
Inviting friends has also gotten a lot easier. When a user logs in to Skype, contacts will be displayed in their Skype list, making friends only a click away.
“All you need to do is click the “invite” button next to their name and they will receive a message with all the info they need to get started,” the company said.
