South African tech retailer Incredible Connection is going beyond the simple hardware sales business.
The company has announced that it will be offering cyber-security insurance “at no additional cost, for all internet-enabled products, across selected products.”

Partnering with cyber security company Phishield, the insurance cover will be “be bundled with Incredible Connection Internet-enabled products as a value add, and will entitle consumers to a 12 month policy that will insure their financial standing against loss of funds through phishing – in the event that the bank does not reimburse the client,” the presser explains.
Incredible Connection notes that the cover’s worth R5000, but customers can purchase more cover if they’re a little more paranoid.
“To register for the cover,” Incredible Connection clarifies, “customers will need to go online, enter their personal details and the unique voucher code which will then generate an email confirming their cover as well as providing them with their policy documents and related information.”
“The policy will cover: online/in-app purchases, card fraud, phishing scams, EFT funds transfers, ATM transactions and telephone transfers.”
