HBO’s Westworld gets its first Hopkins-laden trailer

Although Game of Thrones and Last Week Tonight are two enormously popular TV shows, that isn’t all HBO is known for. The American cable channel has been churning out some great watches recently, including Silicon Valley, and True Detective. But it’s latest series, Westworld, might be its best yet.

Starring the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Thandie Newton and Evan Rachel Wood, the series is based on a Michael Crichton novel of the same name.

Most of the characters are inhabitants of a futuristic Western-themed amusement park, but they aren’t exactly people living normal lives. As you can imagine, Anthony Hopkins lends his ever-creepy drone to the series’ enigmatic male lead, Dr. Robert Ford. Evan Rachel Wood plays Dolores Abernathy, the enlightened female protagonist.

Westworld is a futuristic theme park inhabited by people… but are they really people?

If you’ve seen The Truman Show, you’ll kind of understand the premise.

But beyond that, the series definitely looks dark, dreary and filled with star power. Jonathan Nolan, Christopher’s younger brother, serves as executive producer alongside JJ Abrams, and directs the pilot.

The series is heading to HBO in October 2016, and there’s no word on whether it will be available in South Africa just yet.

Nevertheless, have a look at the trailer below
