We’re pretty much spoilt for choice when it comes to series this year. Along with Netflix’s strong lineup and ShowMax’s South African content, newcomer Amazon Prime is also starting to make in-roads. And it’s latest shot, Sneaky Pete, brings with it the backing of Walter White himself.
When not reciting Kanye West lyrics on James Corden’s Late Late Show, Bryan Cranston also produced a good few shows. For Amazon and Sony, he teams up with Graham Yost and David Shore to launch the crime/drama Sneaky Pete.

Sneaky Pete itself tells the story of con-man Marius (played by Giovanni Ribisi) who assumes the identity of cell mate Pete. Of course, when fake Pete finally leaves the slammer, he’s reunited with the real Pete’s family, except, they have no reason to doubt that he isn’t their long-lost relative.

“When a gangster holds his brother hostage for ransom, Marius must find a way to free him while at the same time struggling to keep his lies from backfiring,” Amazon’s description adds.
“Meanwhile, his new ‘relatives’ are a colourful group who give him a taste of the loving family he’s never had, but have secrets and lies of their own that threaten to drag Marius into a world every bit as dangerous as the one he’s trying to escape.”
It also stars the likes of Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Michael Dreyre and Libe Barer, among others.
Sneaky Pete, although first appearing internationally on Amazon Prime on 13 January, will debut on Amazon Prime on 27 January in South Africa. It will be available on Prime Video desktop and mobile platforms.
