It’s not easy to make something like the formulaic Budget Speech (however important it is) interesting for the average consumer. Sorry Pravin Gordhan.
Mention something about “higher fuel costs” and some might pay attention, but can you remember the big numbers announced by Pravin Gordhan yesterday?

The challenge to inject some fun into the speech and make it more relatable to the average citizen was taken up by University of Pretoria’s GIBS Business School.
Instead of simply narrating and explaining what the ten-figure digits mean using, you know… people, the school channelled its inner master builder. You know? Like the LEGO Movie?
If the Budget Speech was delivered by a LEGO Pravin Gordhan and Parliament…
“In our ongoing efforts to make the Budget Speech accessible, the Gordon Institute of Business Science brings you the highlights of the 2017 budget speech by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan,” the school writes on its video description.
If you largely forgot what Gordhan announced yesterday, have a look at the clip below. And even if you don’t care, do it for the adorable stop animation.
