Welcome to Weekly Round Up, our podcast discussing the latest tech trends, innovation and news from the last few days.
This week sees all hands on deck as Hadlee Simons hosts Andy Walker, Stephen Timm and Matthew Alexander in studio.

Stephen Timm opens the floor, revealing what he learned at Cape Town’s Fuckup Night. The event saw entrepreneurs discussing their biggest failures, and Stephen describes that of Nigerian entrepreneur Dayo Elegbe, who “couldn’t sleep for three years.”
Next, Hadlee and Andy discuss the Xiaomi Mi 6, which is following the “disturbing trend” of removing the audio jack, but does seem to have a very powerful battery.
We then move on to Google’s ad-blocking endeavour for Chrome. The company is looking to launch its own to placate consumers who use other extensions, but it functions more as a filter than a block.
Finally, the team look at the Huffington Post SA saga over Easter weekend, which saw a fake profile’s blog published calling for the disenfranchisement of white men. The post became viral when US right-wing publication Breitbart wrote on it. Even more scrutiny followed when it was revealed the writer of the blog didn’t exist.
What are we watching, reading, playing: Andy is still playing LEGO City: Undercover (and everyone is just grateful it’s not Plants v Zombies). He is also eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S8.
Matthew Alexander is playing Persona 5, by which he is pleasantly surprised. He’s also been catching up on episodes of Rick and Morty.
Stephen is busy playing around with his Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge’s phone camera, and he just finished reading Milan Kundera’s The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
But while Stephen has been taking it easy, Hadlee has been consuming enough media to feed a troll. As well as reviewing FlatOut 4 (which is mildly entertaining, but not worth the R800 you’d have to shell out), he’s also playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and reading The Hunter Killers: The Extraordinary Story of the First Wild Weasels by Dan Hampton.
