“Avast and CCleaner are the top two downloaded products on popular download sites. They are both known by advanced users as focused on performance, so we believe there will be a great interest from our CCleaner customers in using Avast security products and vice versa.”
CCleaner alone boasts around 130-million users, with a suggested 15-million of those using Android.
Piriform is also responsible for computer specifications viewer Speccy, data recovery software Recuva and disk defragging tool Defraggler.
The company has confirmed that it would continue using the CCleaner brand, keeping it separate from Avast’s range of products.
Financial information regarding the acquisition has not been made known, but Piriform will now fall under Avast’s consumer business unit.
