Psy’s “Gangnam Style” is no longer YouTube’s most watched video after Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” on Tuesday took the honour.
K-pop hit “Gangnam Style” has had a remarkable run. Debuting in July 2012, the track was the first YouTube video to hit a billion views just six months later. It also became YouTube’s most viewed video in November 2012, overtaking then-benchmark Justin Bieber’s “Baby”.

The track hasn’t had a formidable challenger, but that all changed on Tuesday.
“See You Again” now has 2.902-billion views compared to “Gangnam Style” with 2.896-billion.
‘See You Again’ is set to become the first YouTube video to hit the three-billion views mark (unless ‘Despacito’ can catch it soon)
The Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth track featured in the movie Furious 7 as a tribute to Paul Walker who had died in a car accident two years prior. The movie itself became the sixth biggest grossing film of all time.
“See You Again” was also the most-sold track in 2015 (pdf) even before streams are factored into the equation.
Although Psy has sat on YouTube’s iron throne for half-a-decade, Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth is probably just keeping the seat warm for Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.
Bilingual smash hit “Despacito” is just six months old, but already has 2.503-billion views on the video site. That’s just 400-million away from “See You Again”.
