Ever spent hours doodling the letter G on some random famous person’s birthday? Google may have a job for you all the way in San Francisco, USA.
Google Doodles is looking for an International Junior Doodle Artist to join its team and provide some insights into non-US cultural experiences. The team says it would prefer applicants from South or Southeast Asia and the Middle East, but it will be accepting applications from around the world.

Advertised on none other than a Google docs page, the job — the first of its kind — will see the Doodler (among other things):
- assisting art directors and the like with non-US Google Doodles
- coming up with exciting and original Doodles
- illustrating, designing, and potentially animating Doodles
- researching people and events from around the world
The minimum qualifications? A BA in Fine Art (or the equivalent), or at least 4 years of relevant commercial or freelance art experience. You’ll also need an online portfolio or animation reel, proficiency in industry-standard digital software tools, and a fluency in English.
Google says it will take preference to those with demonstrable project-management and/or user-experience skills. It would also help an applicant to be fluent in a non-English language.
It can be assumed that if offered the job, the Doodle Artist would be assisted in acquiring a US work visa.
To apply, the company asks that you send a cover letter “describing your international cultural experience” and how it relates to your art as well as a link to your online portfolio or reel to nagler@google.com, making sure to put “International Doodle Artist” in the subject line.
Now, if you don’t mind me, I’ll be Googling “snake” so I can play a game at work and call it research.
