Stephen opens the floor with a Ventureburn story on the SA Reserve Bank and its unwillingness to protect initial coin offerings (ICOs). The stance comes as China bans use altogether, renewing concerns on the use of cryptocurrencies.

Over on Memeburn, Andy talks his favourite subject of the week: weather. Hurricanes Irma, Jose and Katia are currently threatening life in the Caribbean, US and Mexico and each of their paths can be traced via fascinating Google search results.

Hadlee then talks Huawei, and how it has passed Apple to become number two in global smartphone sales. It is the time of year for Apple sales to dip in anticipation of a new iPhone, but the stats illustrate the Chinese firm’s rapid rise.

Finally, Hadlee talks Friday’s Nokia 8 launch, which will be exclusive to Vodacom. For those interested in the 5.3-inch 1440p display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage, you’re looking at forking out R9499 (or R449 a month for a year on contract).

What are we watching, reading, playing: Andy watched Russian documentary Under the Sun, which follows a year in the life of a family in North Korea’s capital Pyongyang. He’s busy playing Splatoon 2Plants vs Zombies and Uncharted.

Stephen recently watched David Cronenberg’s satricial film Maps to the Stars, which stars Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, John Cusack, and Robert Pattinson.

Hadlee is still playing F1 2017 and is currently reviewing the Oukitel K10000 Pro, which sports a massive 10 000 mAh battery.
