#MbuyiseniGraduates: the People’s Bae becomes the People’s Doctor

EFF spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi already holds the title of People’s Bae in South Africa, but today, the member of Parliament added another title to his name: doctor.

The 32-year-old today was awarded a Doctorate in political studies from Wits University, joining the likes of Nelson Mandela and Joe Slovo, both of whom also held qualifications from the institution.

Ndlozi, who first announced that he had completed his doctorate in August, was today honoured in Gauteng. The EFF’s vanguard was also in attendance.

While livestreaming the ceremony — the official EFF account, along with Floyd Shivambu and EFF leader Julius Malema — published a few notable tweets.

As a result, #MbuyiseniGraduates has been trending for much of the afternoon across the country.

“It’s official South Africa, the EFF National Spokesperson and Member of Parliament has been officially conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy Degree,” tweeted the account, receiving over 350 retweets and 700 likes in the process.

A subsequent snap of the EFF leadership, received 1400 likes and close to 600 retweets.

EFF secretary general Godrich Gardee also got in on the group shot fun.

Shivambu’s selfie collage however received the most impact, with more than 1600 likes and 600 retweets.

Those not in the EFF also sought to congratulate Ndlozi.

The DA spokesperson Phumzile Van Damme led the sentiment with “Liliilililillilililiiiiiiiiiiiii”.

Zwelinzima Vavi called red “the ultimate colour”.

Other Twitter users fully embraced the hashtag, and this particularly meme-ready EFF snap.

The President of South Africa made an appearance in meme-form.

And even Beyonce was left speechless.

#MbuyiseniGraduates continues to trend on Twitter countrywide at the time of writing.
