The team then moves on to the local Twitter meme of the week, soccer legend Mark Fish. After posting a picture of Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse as a tribute to the late Hugh Masekela, the web exploded with mislabeled images under the hashtag #MarkFishChallenge.
Over on Ventureburn, Stephen talks his Digital All Stars piece that listed the 8 Gauteng startups to keep an eye on in 2018. From insurtech to health to crowdfarming, Gauteng has been proving its potential to overtake the Western Cape as the most popular region to start a company.
Finally, Hadlee discusses the €997-million (US$1.2-billion) fine the European Union imposed on Qualcomm for paying Apple to turn down cellular chips from rival companies. The company will be filing an appeal, stating it “strongly disagrees” with the decision.
