If you pay for Google Drive storage, take note. The company this week announced “a simple plan for expanded storage that includes extra benefits” dubbed Google One.
Coming to all paying customers of Google’s cloud storage service, Google One sees an upgraded offering from 100GB to 30TB if you really, really have a lot of cat pictures to store.
No ad to show here.
This however plays into Google’s new family sharing scheme, allowing up to five members to use the wad of storage under a single account. And said family members will also be given a private slice of that storage pie too.
Google One will also grant users “one-tap access to experts for help with our consumer products and services” and “access to extras from other Google products, like credits on Google Play or deals on select hotels found in Google Search”.
The company suggests more niceties will arrive in due course.
“If you have a paid Drive storage plan, you’ll be upgraded to Google One automatically over the coming months, starting in the U.S. and then expanding globally,” Google concludes.
As for that pricing information:
- 100GB for US$1.99/month
- 200GB for US$2.99/month
- 2TB for US$9.99/month
- Plans larger than 2TB will keep their current pricing
Additionally, “existing 1 TB Drive plans will be upgraded to 2 TB at no extra cost”, the company revealed.
Users who do not pay for additional storage on Google Drive will be unaffected, and users will still receive 15GB of free storage.
