We know. Finding something to watch on streaming services is a nightmare. The likes of Netflix and Showmax give users a wealth of choices, but picking the ripest apple is always a case of turning over the entire basket.
But fear not, because we’re taking a look at the new content coming to South Africa’s streaming platforms in September.

What’s on Netflix in September?
Bojack Horseman: S5
Available from 14 September 2018.
If the fourth season of animation’s most depressing series didn’t hit you in the feels, the fifth one promises tears and more. In season five, Bojack and Princess Carolyn team up once more, but this time its our favourite pink cat that’s Bojack’s boss.
The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes: S2
Available from 14 September 2018.
The series about homes you’ll never be able to afford returns at a time when local currency forgot that its actually worth something. Last series, we saw homes built using aircraft parts and elaborate cottages woven into the trees. This season, residences in Portugal, Switzerland, Japan and the US all feature.
Maniac
Available from 21 September 2018.
Superbad duo Emma Stone and Jonah Hill team up in a new mini series about pharmaceuticals that feels a bit like Black Mirror… if it were a dark comedy. Of course, there are drugs, hallucinations, and rifts between reality and reality, but that only adds to the fun. Maniac is from director of True Detective Cary Fukunaga so we’re expecting big things.
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Already available.
Ah, Thanos! If Josh Brolin’s starring role in Marvel’s most anticipated cross-over event of the year doesn’t intrigue you, I don’t know what will. The movie that blew up box office charts (and a large section of the universe) is now available to stream online. And you know what Mr. Stark? We feel pretty good about that.

What’s on Showmax in September?
Inglorious Basterds
Available from 13 September 2018.
If you’re a history teacher, you may not want to show this to your pupils as a documentary. One of Tarantino’s new era flicks stars Brad Pitt, CEO of the booming Nazi killing business during the Second World War. Lots of blood, profanity and gore will ease you into the weekend.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Available from 20 September 2018.
Written by and starring Jason Segel, Forgetting Sarah Marshall celebrates its tenth birthday this year. Can you believe it? It stars a stacked cast, including Jonah Hill, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Russell Brand and Paul Rudd, as Paul Rudd.
Peppa Pig Special: Golden Boots
Available from 27 September 2018.
Tiny Peppa Pig and friends travel the high seas, continents, and even outer space to find the AWOL Miss Duck who has a pair of very special golden boots. We have one question though: how irresponsible are Peppa Pig’s parents?
