After months of rain, it seems that Cape Town has jumped from the depths of winter straight into the clay oven of summer.
The city this week is pretty damn hot. Actually, that itself is probably a bit of an understatement.
No ad to show here.
On Monday, the mercury in the Mother City topped the mid-30s. Tuesday was just as bad. Wednesday, I’m writing this sprawled across the floor, largely melted.
The hot weather is also expected to last through the weekend, making many Capetonians question if it’s worth braving the surface of Crematoria.
“Can this Cape Town weather please protect me from itself?!” one user wrote.
6am and already 27 degrees. Can this Cape Town weather please protect me from itself?!

October isn’t usually the beginning of the hot season down south, and some called this into question.
I don't know how Limpopo heat got to Cape Town, but it's here & we are suffering.

A few sassy individuals highlighted Cape Town’s other traits.
I don’t get why Cape Town ppl complain so much about summer. Like with out a nice hot summer there is just a mountain that looks like a table and racism

Some felt Cape Town was just overreacting just a little bit.

Every now and then I miss durban and it’s inhabitants ability to experience weather without talking about it. In Cape Town every ray of sunshine gets its own Instagram page.

Other than excessive sweating, another side effect of the heat is a slight decrease in dam levels to 75.6%.
