In 1994, little known animated movie (/s) The Lion King made its debut and became my (and possibly the entire world’s) favourite flick of all time.
Filled with endearing characters, moving scenes, and a storyline laced with valuable life lessons, it was hard to beat in its day, and now.

But next year, a reimagined CGI version of that same movie is set to make its debut, and today, Walt Disney Studios released its first trailer.
Directed by Jon Favreau (who brought the world Iron Man and The Jungle Book), The Lion King tells the story of Simba who “must overcome betrayal and tragedy to assume his rightful place on Pride Rock”, reads the YouTube description.
It’s a story you know and love retold with a ridiculously stacked cast. Donald Glover, Seth Rogan, John Oliver, Beyonce, and James Earl Jones are just some of the stars appearing in the movie.
And yes, if you absolutely must know beforehand, the trailer does include that Pride Rock scene that will almost certainly give you goosebumps.
The flick debuts on 19 July 2019.
