Google just launched a new domain exclusively for developers

Google has revealed a new domain called “.dev”, made for developers to have their very own spaces online.

“We hope .dev will be a new home for you to build your communities, learn the latest tech and showcase your projects — all with a perfect domain name,” the company said in a blog post.

According to Google, there are already several companies using .dev to connect with others and share their knowledge.

Some include GitHub.dev, grow.dev and Codecademy.dev”.

Google also notes that .dev is completely secure as well, because connection to the domain requires HTTPS.

“This protects people who visit your site against ad malware and tracking injection by internet service providers, and from spying when using open WiFi networks,” it explained.

Currently, an Early Access Plan for .dev is open for registering and will close on 28 February.
