Since the incident, Babes’ supporters flooded Twitter with calls for Mampintsha’s arrest.
At least six Mampintsha-related hashtags also began trending Monday morning, including #fuckmampintsha, #mampintshaistrash, and #arrestmampintsha.
South African musicians also rallied together to call out his actions, including Reason and DJ Zinhle.
Government officials and political leaders also joined the Twitter conversation. Arts and culture minister Nathi Mthethwa called for Wodumo to press charges.
“Babes must be protected she was courageous to expose this monster clearly he is used to beating her up,” wrote former police minister Fikile Mbalula.
Though many believe that the star recorded the video as a cry for help, she has not yet addressed the matter. Additionally, Mampintsha has yet to issue a statement.
