Facebook announced on Thursday that it will ban white nationalist and white supremacist behaviour on its platforms.
The ban will cover “praise, support and representation” on both Facebook and Instagram.

“It’s clear that these concepts are deeply linked to organized hate groups and have no place on our services,” the company said on its blog.
Facebook will start removing offending content next week, as well as direct possible offenders to a recovery support group. This includes people who search for information on the topics.
“People searching for these terms will be directed to Life After Hate, an organization founded by former violent extremists that provides crisis intervention, education, support groups and outreach.”
The company left out the details of how it will go about enforcing the ban, but claimed that improvements to technology and policies will be made.
“We are deeply committed and will share updates as this process moves forward,” Facebook concluded.
