New Google Maps feature let some users add public events

Android Police has spotted a new feature coming on Google Maps that lets users add public events to the platform.

It means that Maps users soon be able to let people nearby know when they’re hosting events by simply posting the information on Google Maps.

On the platform’s help centre, a list of instructions confirms that the feature is available with limited access.

“Feature might not be available in some regions,” the post reads.

To find out if you can add public events, check your options under the “contribute” and “events” tabs in the Your Contributions menu on Google Maps.

For now, the feature seems exclusive to Android users, and a wider roll out date is unknown.
