The iPad could finally receive an official WhatsApp app in the near future, according to an exclusive by WABetaInfo.
The WhatsApp-centric blog on Monday published more information on the app that won’t require users to connect to WhatsApp Web. Instead, it’ll be a standalone app for WhatsApp for the Apple tablet.

And like WhatsApp on iOS, users can expect the usual features with the added benefits that a larger screen brings. Split-screen chats, a larger voice call window, a landscape mode, and larger Facebook Messenger-like UI for navigation are all visible in WABetaInfo’s deep dive.
It’s not yet clear how WhatsApp for iPad will handle phone numbers. That is, there’s no news on if the iPad app will share numbers with the app on your iPhone.
Still, it’s likely that the app will make its way to the iPad within the next few months.
