Among the many Facebook updates announced at the F8 conference this week, Facebook also revealed updates for Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.
Facebook is re-building Messenger in an effort to make the app lighter, faster and more reliable. Though the company has not provided details about the “completely re-engineered” app, it is expected to roll out by the end of 2019.

Other features coming later this year include a desktop version of Facebook Messenger for both Windows and MacOS, a new space within Messenger for Stories from your closest contacts, and the option to share and watch videos from Facebook with contacts on Messenger.
Of course, no Facebook product comes without ads, and soon businesses will be able to send “potential customers” Q&As in Messenger.
Users will also be able to make appointments and bookings from Messenger too.
These new updates are aimed at creating “closer ties between people, businesses and developers”, the company explained.
WhatsApp for business, which debuted in January 2018, will soon feature a catalogue for products and services available from companies using the app.
“In the months ahead people will be able to see a business catalogue right within WhatsApp when chatting with a business,” Facebook explains.
This means that customers can chat with a business and browse through what they have to offer, from within WhatsApp.
Besides confirming its previously revealed Donations sticker, Instagram will also soon feature an updated camera with a Creative Mode.
“This new camera will make it easier to use popular creative tools like effects and interactive stickers, so you can express yourself more freely,” the company explained.
The Instagram and WhatsApp features are set to roll out over the coming weeks and months respectively.
