Hit comedy series The Office will ditch Netflix and move to NBCUniversal’s upcoming streaming service come 2021, the latter announced on Tuesday.
“The Office is one of our most prized series, and we are thrilled it has found an exciting new home,” said Universal Television’s president Pearlena Igbokwe in a press release.

The US version of the show, starring Steve Carrell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, and Jenna Fischer, originally aired on NBC when it debuted back in 2005.
The company also revealed that The Office is the number one streaming video on demand show, watched over 52-billion times last year, despite coming to its conclusion back in 2013.
Netflix mourned the news on Twitter, taking a slight jab at NBC in the process.
“We’re sad that NBC has decided to take The Office back for its own streaming platform — but members can binge watch the show to their hearts’ content ad-free on Netflix until January 2021,” said the tweet.

Comcast-owned NBCUniversal plans to launch its ad-supported streaming service in 2020.
The announcement won’t affect South African users however, as the show isn’t available on Netflix in the country.
