Apple’s iOS 13 beta reportedly features a FaceTime “Attention Correction” tool that fakes eye contact during video calls.
The feature was first spotted by Twitter user and app developer Mike Rundle, who revealed how it works.

From the screenshots and testimony, it seems that FaceTime Attention Correction alters the video call’s perspective, giving the impression that you and your contact are looking at one another eye-to-eye.
Sounds creepy, sure. But as phone cameras are usually mounted on the top of the screen, users seem to stare below it — at the screen itself — and therefore not directly at the caller on the other end.
But yes, soon your iPhone will be able to pay attention for you while you stare at your own face in the middle of a video call.
