South African artists have been dominating Apple Music charts in the country over the past four years, Apple Music revealed in a press release on Monday.
According to the company, local musicians, albums and playlists were among some the highest performing on Apple Music within South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.

Over a four year period, Nasty C was the number one SA artist on Apple Music, followed by Joyous Celebration, AKA, Sjava and Cassper Nyovest, respectively.
The top local songs found Black Coffee and David Guetta’s “Drive” at number one, with Goldfish and Diamond Thug’s “Deep of the Night” and Lady Zamar’s “Collide” taking second and third place.
The best performing local albums also saw Nasty C’s Strings And Bling at the top, while Mlindo The Vocalist’s Emakhaya and Touch My Blood by AKA followed.
In sub-Saharan Africa, Nasty C, Joyous Celebration, AKA and Black coffee also held strong positions on the charts.
“Africa is home to a great tapestry of cultures and musical genres,” Apple Music said, emphasising its commitment to providing a platform for African talent.
